Real Time Results with 3M™ Molecular Detection System

Single protocol for all pathogens to streamline your food testing process.

How does 3M™ Molecular Detection Systems improve operational efficiency?

  • Fast

    • Test up to 96 samples per run

    • Same- or next-day results

  • Accurate

    • Picks out target organisms

    • Reduces false negatives

  • Easy-to-use

    • Single protocol for all pathogens

    • Ready-to-use reagents

  • Sustainable

    • Requires less water and energy usage

    • Calculate your sustainability savings

Powered by unique technologies — Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification (LAMP) and Bioluminescence Detection — the 3M™ Molecular Detection System is a fast, accurate, easy-to-use and affordable solution. In comparison, Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technology, commonly used in DNA-based pathogen detection, uses Internal Amplification Control because of its own limitations and susceptibility to inhibition from sample matrices, which can lead to false negative results.

Get more control over time to results, process, and productivity.

Learn why our customers choose 3M™ Molecular Detection Systems

The 3M™ Molecular Detection Assay 2 platform makes molecular detection of food pathogens simpler and faster. Food manufacturers get never-before-available speed and ease in simultaneously identifying Salmonella, Listeria, Listeria monocytogenes, E. coli O157 (including H7), Campylobacter, and Cronobacter.

For these reasons, the 3M™ Molecular Detection Assay 2 earned the Edison Award in 2017.

Pathogen testing: featured studies and research

  • White Paper: Comparison of Four Rapid Pathogen Detection Platforms and the Impact on Technician Labor Time and Time to Result

This study compares salmonella pathogen detection methods between 3M™ Molecular Detection Assay 2 – Salmonella, DuPont™ BAX® Salmonella 2 PCR Assay, Bio-Rad iQ-Check® Salmonella II PCR Kit (Easy I Protocol), and bioMérieux VIDAS® UP Salmonella (SPT). Learn how the complexity of steps in these methods can lead to varied time to result and technician bench time.

  • White Paper: Advancing Poultry Pathogen Management Using Modern Testing Technology

Take a comprehensive look at 3M molecular technology compared to alternatives like PCR. With the combination of 3M™ Molecular Detection Assay 2 - Campylobacter and 3M™ Molecular Detection Assay 2 - Salmonella, you can monitor poultry for both pathogens simultaneously in one easy-to-use, accurate process.

3M™ Molecular Detection System: validations and awards

  • AOAC® Perfomance Tested Method℠ (PTM)
Confirms that the method has been tested in an independent laboratory. The method is reviewed yearly to ensure that there have been no changes to the method or quality assurance testing.
  • Ensures that the method will perform as stated in the instructions for use and that the method has been thoroughly tested in a collaborative study. Such collaboratively studied methods can then be included in Federal Code of Regulations, and federal agencies such as the FDA and USDA can add them to their code of approved methods, adding to the customer’s confidence in the product.
  • Methods carrying the NF mark have been thoroughly tested in a rigorous protocol that includes a method comparison and a collaborative study carried out by a certified expert laboratory. Also includes regular audits of manufacturing sites. NF certificate is valid for four years, then reevaluated and renewed, giving the customer confidence that the product’s performance remains consistent year after year.
