It is designed to reduce the amount of solar heat transmission through window glass by increasing the solar reflection (not necessarily visible reflection) and solar absorption through the glass.

Nothing completely stops fading. 3M™ Automotive Window Film are designed to help reduce the major causes of fading (ultra violet light, visible light, and solar heat), thus prolonging the life of your furnishings, perhaps as much as two to five times. Generally, ultra violet (UV) is approximately 40% of the cause, visible light is about 25%, and heat about 25%. The remaining 10% can be attributed to humidity, pollutants, interior lights, dye stability, and more.

1) TSER – Total Solar Energy Rejection: The percentage of total solar energy rejected by filmed glass. The higher this value, the less solar heat is transmitted.

2) VLT – Visible Light Transmitted: The percentage of visible light that passes directly through filmed glass: the higher the number, the lighter the film.

3) Ultraviolet Rejection: The percentage of ultraviolet (UV) light that is rejected by the filmed glass. UV light contributes to the fading and deterioration of fabrics and leather.

4) IRR – Infrared Rejection: The percentage of solar infrared energy rejection, over the wavelength range from 900-1,000 nm. Infrared rays are primarily responsible for the heat you feel when driving

5) IRER – Infrared Energy Rejection: The percent of solar infrared energy rejection over the wavelength range from 780–2,500 nm. IRER takes into account the transmitted and absorbed IR energy that will be reradiated into a car.

6) Glare Reduction: The percentage by which visible light is reduced by the addition of tinting film.

3M AutoFilm is backed by up to 10 years warranty should your window films need replacing from bubbling, peeling, blistering or purpling. 3M AutoFilm is durable, designed to last and virtually maintenance free. Our films are sold and installed exclusively by professional, Authorized 3M car centres.

The warranty is VOID if the product has been subjected to abuse or improper care. Except for the obligation to replace defective film and reapply film as described above, Seller shall not be liable in either tort or contract for any loss or damage, direct, indirect, special, consequential, or incidental, arising out of the use or inability to use this product. Some states or provinces do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitation or exclusion may not apply. This warranty gives you specific legal rights and you may also have other rights which vary.

No. Ceramic coating should be professionally removed from the vehicle before applying paint protection film. You may have 3M™ Ceramic Coating applied on top of your 3M™ Paint Protection Film. Check with your local 3M authorized installer for more details.

Yes. Paint protection film is intended to be permanent, but it can be removed without damage to your car’s finish. 3M recommends that you visit a 3M Authorized installer for removal.

Generally, a wear and tear package (side mirrors, door edges, door cups, trunk ledge) will take only a few hours. Full paint protection film installation takes about up to 5 days days. However, we recommend contacting your local 3M authorized installer because depending on your type of vehicle, coverage options and availability, time to install paint protection film will vary. Upon submitting your information request, the installer will be able to inform you of the amount of time that your wrap will require.
